3 Faces (15)

2018, directed by Jafar Panahi, 100 minutes

Iranian Jafar Panahi was banned by his government from making films. This is his fourth film since the ban was announced! By definition each film is a subversive act of defiance, scrutinising some aspect of Iranian life and culture. The starting point for 3 Faces is a short bit of mobile phone video that appears to show the death of a young woman. Panahi stars alongside Behnaz Jafari, a popular Iranian actress, as they set out to unravel the truth behind the images on the mobile phone. A playful, affectionate road trip in patriarchal rural Iran”
