We’re picking great films for the coming weeks.
The Wound (15) on 29th October is a special and powerful film from South Africa. It weaves a traditional Xhosa circumcision cermony with the surrounding tensions of ilicit love and the westernised city v tribal divide.
On 5th November we are bringing you The Guardians (15). Set in WWI France it’s the story of the women left behind when the men went to fight. A gentle drame with lovely wide-screen images of the the French countryside.
Brady is The Rider (15) in this gritty film (12th November) from the US about a rodeo rider who sustains a life-threatening injury which forces him to make choices. Brilliantly played by the real Brady Jandreau.
90 year-old Agnes Varda, who has been making films since the 1960s, teams up with artist JR in Faces Places (12A) in this lovely documentary on 19th November.
Harry Dean Stanton died recently and in his final film he is Lucky who lives an uncomplicated small-town life in New Mexico. A great script and swansong for a legendary actor. Lucky (15) is on 26th November.
We know that many of you are looking forward to seeing Wajib (15) on 3rd December a lovely family drama set in Nazereth.
